Reg Wilson - Philanthropy Coach
Philanthropist,
financial advisor, philanthropy coach, Reg’s desire to contribute was sparked
when he first traveled to West Africa in 1968 as an economic development student.
While in Nigeria, during the Biafra War and crossing the Sahara, he came face
to face with his life long sensitivity to the sad reality that some people are
lucky enough to be born into the right circumstances and some people are not – but
that the lucky have an opportunity to give a hand to the unlucky.
Following college, he spent 7 years in the Middle East, traveling every town
from Cairo to Kabul while learning the culture, music and eventually starting
a manufacturing business in Iran during the 1970’s. He has traveled to
over 80 countries and is an avid collector of traditional world music. With his
wife, Gina Ross, an international pioneer in cross cultural therapy who speaks
seven languages, he co-founded the International Trauma to develop community
wide solutions to the psychological trauma resulting from war, famine, displacement
and natural catastrophe.
Since his return to the US in 1978, he has built a highly successful business
consulting and advising the ultra wealthy in strategies to transfer wealth and
values to children and grandchildren in ways that provide a sense of meaning,
purpose and legacy.
He is currently writing a book (Life after Success: Your Legacy) interviewing
some or the world’s wealthiest people about the meaning, purpose and responsibility
of wealth. He has partnered with the Foundation for Global Leadership to create
a unique experience for families and organizations to explore the deepest and
most meaningful questions of what is really important for us as humans in relationship
to those who were born into different life circumstances - while having a life
changing experience in exotic places.
