Legacy Adventures

What are Legacy Adventures?

Along with success often comes the question, “How can I make a difference and leave a better world for the generations to come?”

Legacy Adventures are unique, “once-in-a-lifetime” experiences that take you behind the scenes in developing countries to explore the issues on the ground in conjunction with a life changing experience.

Our programs combine the excitement of foreign travel with learning from the leading experts about the problems and the solutions facing our changing world. You will engage in facilitated dialogues and conversations about how you, your family (or family foundation) can truly “make a difference.”

Outcomes include exploring:

  • What are my personal goals and purpose?
  • How do I want to get involved?
  • What are the areas that interest me most?
  • How do I want to involve my family?
  • What are the current leading programs and best practices solving global issues?

Family Legacy Adventures

Adventure travel with a social conscience, these exciting travel opportunities for families combine the best of the country’s natural wonders and tourism with social engagement. The trips provide parents with an opportunity to learn with their children and explore how their individual and collective talents can authentically make a difference toward the environment and in the lives of others.

The result: Life changing experiences that strengthen family relationships, increase meaningful “dinner-table” dialogue and ignites a life-long passion for social and global change.

Leadership and Legacy Safaris

These adventure-based educational study tours allow you to travel to developing countries, assess social and economic conditions, meet with government and local business leaders as well as best-practicing social entrepreneurs and determine how you might contribute. Depending on the country, you may have the opportunity to visit refugee camps and meet with United Nations officials to further your understanding of the social dynamics of the region. These trips provide opportunities that are inaccessible to the typical tourist. Gorilla trekking, elephant-back jungle treks, white-water rafting and visits to places with historical, social and spiritual significance are intertwined into the itinerary depending on what the host country has to offer.

These programs are completely independent and do not solicit or promote any particular program or organization. Each trip is custom designed to provide a unique educational experience for you to explore the issues and needs in developing countries and emerging democracies.

Living Legacy Adventure Retreats:

A Reflective Journey to Explore Your Personal Mission, Align Your Personal Interests and Determine How You Want to Make a Difference

These highly customized retreats take place in a private game lodge in the African bushveld. Designed for individuals who are in a transitional point in their lives, the deeply reflective facilitated process takes participants on an inner journey, using nature as a metaphor for how you live your life in the present and how you want to live in the future. Daily game drives, meditative bush walks, solo experiences in the bush, spa treatments, individual and group discussions comprise your experience. Return home with a deeper understanding of self, your priorities, and with a strengthened capacity for how you communicate with others.

Each Legacy Adventure is custom designed and trip dates occur throughout the year:

Africa: Zambia, Botswana, South Africa, Malawi, Namibia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Egypt and Morocco

South and Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet

Latin America: Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, and Belize

Middle East: Israel, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates

"FGL trips are a unique leadership/adventure combination opportunity. They are the difference between "seeing" a country and "feeling" a country."

"Africa is one of those trips that everyone from the western world should embark on at least once in their life. It delivers a deep emotional experience that cannot be described in words but only in feeling and first hand account. It's people are the real deal as they are excluded from the material snares of the west, only left with absolute necessity and the sheer willingness to survive... something so distant to our own lives."

"Having already been to Africa once before on an FGL trip, I was ecstatic at the opportunity to take my 21 year-old son. I knew that he would have an awakening and life-changing experience. These trips provoke you from all aspects - from the people you meet, the animals, daily life and living conditions, cultural practices and the political issues. My son's appreciation for what we have only deepened and it touched my heart the way he interacted with everyone and took these extraordinary people into his soul.

It was definitely a bonding trip for us and the depth of what we experienced together will be a topic of conversation in the years to come. Now, I am planning a future trip with my husband and daughter to stay longer and volunteer. If you ever have an opportunity to experience an FGL trip - either just yourself or your family - it will definitely be an experience of a lifetime and something to be shared and remembered forever."
